Experience incredible scenery, Aboriginal Art and Kimberley Wildlife. For those who wish to sample the unique Kimberley. Explore that Kimberley's ancient mountain ranges, gorges and rivers as you travel the heart of the Kimberley. Highlights include Windjana, Bells, Manning, Emma, Geike Gorges, Tunnel Creek and El Questro.
Day 1 (Broome to Windjana Gorge)
We depart Broome and travel via the Derby Prison Tree for a short visit. Leaving the bitumen behind we enter the Gibb River Road, almost instantly we can feel the remoteness. A walk up Windjana Gorge this afternoon is sure to impress. The area is rich in Aboriginal culture, your guide will tel you about the "outlaw" Jandamurra, the Bunada people and the battle of the Devils PAss. Camping overnight Windjana National Park. (L/D)
Day 2 (Windjana to Bells Gorge)
This morning we're off to Tunnel Creek, have your bathers and torches ready. This amazing tunnel cuts through the Napier Range. Afternoon sees us off to Bells Gorge. Camping overnight - Silent Grove. (B/L/D)
Day 3 (Bells Gorge to Manning)
Leaving Silent Grove this morning, we travel through the beautiful scenery of the Kimberley's highest mountain range - King Leopold Ranges on our way to Galvins Gorge. This gorge will tempt you to don bathers. For those feeling like a walk, a visit to Manning Gorge this afternoon is recommended. Camping overnight Mt Barnett Station.(B/L/D)
Day 4 (Manning to El Questro)
Our journey today takes us through the majestic Cockburn Ranges, have your cameras ready for the spectacular scenery and panoramic views of the Cockburn Ranges, Cambrige Gulf and the twin rivers of the Durack and Pentecost. Camping overnight El Questro. (B/L/D)
Day 5 (El Questro to Kununurra)
The morning sees us soaking in the thermal pools of Zebedee Springs, before a walk to stunning Emma Gorge on El Questro Station, with a rewarding swim in the crystal clear waters, before we head to the Kimberley town of Kununurra. (B/L)
7 DAY GIBB AND BUNGLE COMBO
Day 6 (Kununurra to Bungle Bungle)
Depart Kununurra, we head for the scenic Carr Boyd onto Warmun for a short stop. We then head to Purnululu National Park turn off and drive along 53km along a very scenic, winding dirt road. An afternoon walk to Echidna Chasm and Mini Palms (time permitting) and its amazing colour. Arrive at camp on sunset. (L/D)
Day 7 (Bungle Bungle to Kununurra)
This morning we head to the Southern end for a walk through the Bee Hive area of Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge optional helicopter flight available before our return to Kununurra. (B/L) |
